Still in awe: my project has been recognized with First Place for the 2025 Disability Anthropology Essay Prize by the Disability Research Interest Group (DRIG)! It’s deeply meaningful to have this work honored by a community committed to challenging ableism and amplifying disabled voices in anthropology. The DRIG has been leading scholarship, activism, and critical conversations that don’t just treat disability as a topic, but as a vibrant and intersectional way of understanding human experience.

A huge thank you to the DRIG, the Society for Medical Anthropology, and disability scholars everywhere for opening space for media, art, and new forms of access in our field. If you’re at the AAA conference, the award ceremony is November 19 at the Sheraton, Waterbury Room (2nd floor). Merit Winners Awareness Festival 2025 — Honorable Mention and official virtual selection. The film will screen online worldwide after Oct 27 (with optional geo-blocking). No in-person screening this year; there is a Merit Winners ceremony on Oct 26, 8 PM PDT.

Director’s Cut International Film Festival Gala 2025 (Budapest) — Official Nominee/Finalist. Winners are announced at the gala alongside live screenings. We’ll share updates on attendance and any screening details soon.
